Big Brothers Big Sisters does important work helping all children reach their full potential by pairing them with volunteer mentors like Peter McRae. McRae Capital has supported this worthy effort for many years, and on October 28th and 29th, we got to have a little fun as well.
Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a weekend of bowling for dollars, a fundraiser in support of the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization that serves Essex, Hudson and Union Counties in New Jersey. The two-day event featured more than a thousand participants bowling for fun, including our own Peter McRae and his girlfriend Jill Popeck, and raised more than $120,000 for this worthy cause. Peter has been a BBBS volunteer for sixteen years, and is currently mentoring Rayel, from Montclair NJ (by his side in the picture)—Rayel is Peter’s fourth “little” since he began mentoring way back in 2001. Peter also had the esteemed honor of judging the Halloween costume contest.
“It was great to see so many people give their time and money for such an important cause,” said Peter. “One-on-one mentoring has been proven to have a positive impact on kids facing adversity in their lives.”
McRae Capital is happy to play a role in helping these incredible children grow and succeed. As a nice surprise to recognize our support over the years, Carlos Lejnieks, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Essex, Hudson and Union Counties, presented us with the ultimate mark of distinction: a bowling trophy. It was a lot of fun and we couldn’t be prouder.
